Two years ago I received a Facebook message from a dear friend of mine, Pamela Benson Owens inviting me to take part in a group called Women of Wonder. The group initially started off as a monthly dinner for a diverse group of women to come together and discuss women empowering subjects led by Pam.
As a single mom that works full-time I don’t often have the time to take part in groups, so I hesitantly said agreed. I am so glad I said yes, what started out as monthly dinner with strangers, somehow turned into an inspiring life-giving soul nurturing community of sisterhood. The women that take part in WOW are some of my closet friends. These women inspire me, pray for me, rejoice with me and cry with me in life’s ups and downs.
Through Pam’s leadership and her sheer determination this group has become a place that women from all walks of life and backgrounds can to come together virtually and in-person and feel safe to bring their most authentic selves. Pam has also used the WOW platform to help inspire and nurture the somewhat reluctant leaders in many of us by inviting us to lead bible studies, host meet-ups and even become published authors! I don’t know what else God has in store for the amazing women of WOW, but I am ready to say, “Yes, Amen!”
